Supporting People Affected by the War: Cash Assistance

The war has forced Valeriia’s family to flee their home twice.

Before the full-scale invasion, Valeriia’s family lived in Kamianske. Heavy shelling forced them to relocate to Balabyne, near Zaporizhzhia. But when their home was damaged by shelling again in April this year, the family decided to move to Zaporizhzhia.

Under the Unified Cash Transfers programme, each family member received UAH 12,300. The family received a total of UAH 24,600. The funds can be used to buy food, pay utility bills and cover other urgent needs.

With support from the Norwegian Red Cross, the Ukrainian Red Cross provides Unified Cash Transfers in the Donetsk, Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia regions. Since the beginning of 2026, 1,759 people affected by the war or forced to leave frontline areas have received assistance.
