The Ukrainian Red Cross responded to the aftermath of attacks in Mykolaiv

For almost 10 hours, the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Mykolaiv region worked alongside other emergency services at sites affected by strikes on infrastructure in the city.

Volunteers assessed the affected area, provided first aid to an injured person, supplied emergency responders with drinking water, and remained on standby to provide any necessary support as needed.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Russian forces repeatedly attacked a shopping centre in Mykolaiv on 4 September and during the night of 4–5 September. The strikes damaged the shopping areas and caused fires. Two people were injured.

Due to the ongoing threat of further strikes, volunteers and emergency responders had to work with particular caution, moving to a safe distance when necessary and then returning to the site to continue responding to the aftermath of the attacks.
