The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to support those affected in Bucha district
The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to respond to the consequences of the Russian attack in Bucha district, Kyiv region, and support residents of the affected communities.
Emergency response teams and the Kyiv regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross have been involved since the response began. The teams are working alongside local authorities and other services to provide the necessary assistance.
As part of the response, the Ukrainian Red Cross evacuated people from the affected area and helped arrange temporary accommodation for them. Volunteers also provided first aid and psychological first aid to people affected by the attack and delivered 300 litres of drinking water to personnel of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Red Cross team held meetings with representatives of the Dmytrivka community, including deputy heads and representatives of the village council, as well as the Head of Bucha District State Administration. The meetings focused on the current situation, the priority needs of people affected and further coordination of assistance.
As of 29 August, local authorities had received more than 180 requests for assistance from residents whose homes were damaged in the attack. To date, 105 tarpaulins have been distributed to affected households to provide temporary cover for damaged homes.
Twenty hygiene kits, seven emergency kits and 30 blankets have been delivered to the temporary accommodation facility for evacuated people in Irpin.
According to Ukraine’s President, the number of people killed as a result of the Russian strike and subsequent detonation in the village of Myla, Kyiv region, has risen to 38, while another 20 people were injured. Two children are among those injured. Four people remain missing.
The Ukrainian Red Cross is preparing further assistance, including support for affected households and essential items to help evacuated people meet their immediate needs during their stay in temporary accommodation.
