“This opened up new opportunities for me”: How participation in the Reboot programme helped Viktoriia expand her business

After relocating from her hometown of Berdiansk to Chernihiv, Viktoriia had to rebuild her life in a new place. Before the full-scale invasion, she had worked in retail and food service for more than 15 years. However, due to her health condition, she was advised to avoid physically demanding work.

Viktoriia has a disability related to the removal of her thyroid gland and has been on hormone therapy for many years. She therefore began looking for a profession that would allow her to earn an income while also taking care of her health. That is how she came up with the idea of training in podiatry. She was able to pursue this goal through the Ukrainian Red Cross’s Reboot programme.

Viktoriia used the programme’s Cash Condition component, which allows participants to choose a course themselves and, after successfully completing it, receive reimbursement of training costs of up to UAH 30,000.

For Viktoriia, the decision to pay for the training herself was not easy, as she had to borrow money to cover the cost.

Viktoriia successfully completed the training and received reimbursement for the cost. Now, in addition to providing manicures and aesthetic pedicures, she offers a range of other podiatric treatments. This quickly produced tangible results: new clients began coming to Viktoriia, and her income increased.
