Khmelnytskyi regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross has handed over a mobile mass decontamination station, Mass DECON, to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Khmelnytskyi Region
The system consists of five specialised tents and equipment for the rapid decontamination of people in the event of chemical, biological or radiological threats. In an emergency, the station will be jointly deployed and operated by teams from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Emergency responders, together with the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Khmelnytskyi region, conduct training exercises and practise coordination procedures.
Local and volunteer fire brigades have also received 48 specialised backpacks containing psychological first aid supplies. Firefighters are often among the first to reach people affected by an emergency and need to be prepared to provide both physical assistance and psychological first aid.
