The Ukrainian Red Cross responded to the aftermath of attacks in Zaporizhzhia
Volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Zaporizhzhia region worked alongside other emergency services at sites where the consequences of further attacks on the city were being addressed.
The team checked the affected areas to identify people in need of assistance, provided first aid to those injured, and delivered psychological first aid to people experiencing acute stress reactions.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia with drones overnight on 19 August. One man was killed, and seven people were injured. Civilian facilities were damaged, including a hostel, a furniture store, and an apartment building
At another location, according to the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, a Russian guided aerial bomb destroyed a private residential house in one of the city’s districts. A fire broke out, while the blast wave and debris damaged nearby homes and outbuildings.
