The Ukrainian Red Cross provided assistance at the sites of the large-scale attack on Kyiv
During the night of 20 August, Kyiv was once again subjected to a large-scale attack. The emergency response team of the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross worked at the sites of the strikes alongside first responders from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and emergency medical teams.
Volunteers searched the affected areas for injured people, providing first aid and psychological first aid. In total, volunteers provided first aid to 11 people with injuries of varying severity, while 8 people experiencing acute stress reactions received psychological first aid. Volunteers also conducted initial assessments of five damaged residential buildings and evacuated one person.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the Russian strikes caused damage, destruction and fires in Kyiv’s Sviatoshynskyi, Solomianskyi and Darnytskyi districts. As of 8 a.m., 33 people have been reported injured. According to the Kyiv city authorities, the death toll in the capital has risen to 12.
