Smila: The Ukrainian Red Cross supports people affected by the attack

The city of Smila in the Cherkasy region came under attack again overnight. The team of the Cherkasy regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross has been working at the site since the first hours following the attack.

Volunteers from the emergency response team conducted an assessment of the area to identify people affected by the attack. First aid and psychological first aid are being provided on site. The Ukrainian Red Cross is also operating an assistance point where people affected by the attack can charge their phones, have water or tea, and receive psychological support and essential information.

Based on the needs identified, residents of damaged homes are also being provided with construction materials for temporary repairs, including OSB boards, timber battens, plastic sheeting and other materials, as well as emergency kits.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, a nine-storey residential building was damaged as a result of a Russian UAV strike on Smila, and a fire broke out. Five people were injured. Emergency responders evacuated 10 residents from the building.
