Preparing for the coming winter is not only about securing resources but also about being ready to support people who may face the most difficult circumstances

This was the focus of a meeting between the leadership of the Ukrainian Red Cross and the team from the Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity of Ukraine. The discussion explored ways to strengthen cooperation between the Government, local communities, and humanitarian organisations ahead of the autumn and winter period, ensuring that assistance reaches those who need it most, particularly people who may find it difficult to seek support on their own.

For the Ukrainian Red Cross, it is essential that people’s needs at the community level are taken into account from the earliest stages of planning. With a nationwide network working in communities across Ukraine, we are able not only to respond to humanitarian needs but also to help identify where support is most needed before the situation becomes critical.

The meeting also explored the development of volunteering and the opportunities created by the National Volunteer Development Programme through 2030. The experience of volunteers and their presence in communities will play an important role in strengthening coordinated local support.

We will continue working together to prepare for the challenges of the coming autumn and winter and to ensure timely support for people across Ukraine.
