Practical Training on Positioning and Transfers Held in Residential Care Home in Khmelnytskyi Region
A practical training session on Positioning and Transfers was held at the Starokryvyn Residential Care Home for Older People and People with Disabilities, located in one of the most remote areas of the Khmelnytskyi region. The training was delivered by a trainer from the Physical Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation programme of the Khmelnytskyi regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
The training focused on:
- Body mechanics — using correct techniques to reduce strain on the caregiver’s back and joints.
- Therapeutic positioning — safely repositioning a person in bed to maximise comfort and help prevent complications.
- Assistive devices — using rehabilitation equipment effectively and safely in everyday care.
- Communication and reassurance — explaining each step of the transfer process and building trust to help the person feel safe and confident.
The main goal of the training was to promote high-quality, dignified, and safe care for everyone.
Providing proper care for people with limited mobility is not only about compassion — it is also about having the knowledge and skills that help protect both the person receiving care and the caregiver.
Together, we are making professional, high-quality care more accessible.
