Ukrainian Red Cross mobile rehabilitation units provide free rehabilitation services in Stryi and Sambir communities

Mobile rehabilitation units of the Ukrainian Red Cross provide free rehabilitation services to people living in the Stryi and Sambir territorial communities who, because of their health condition or limited mobility, are unable to travel independently to healthcare facilities.

Rehabilitation specialists deliver individual rehabilitation sessions in people’s homes, helping them restore physical function, improve their independence in daily life, and equipping family members and caregivers with practical care skills.

Since the beginning of 2026, the mobile rehabilitation units serving the Stryi and Sambir communities have achieved the following results:

  • 335 rehabilitation sessions delivered in line with individual rehabilitation plans;
  • 38 caregivers and family members received consultations and practical guidance on care and the prevention of potential complications;
  • 16 assistive devices provided to patients to support their mobility, independence, and everyday activities.

The Physical Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation programme is implemented by the Lviv regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross with financial support from the Government of Japan and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Thanks to this support, people in need of rehabilitation are able to receive high-quality rehabilitation services in their own homes.
