22 more communities in the Kyiv region are now better prepared to respond to emergencies
A safe community starts with preparedness. That is why the Ukrainian Red Cross continues to strengthen communities’ capacity to respond to emergencies.
Recently, another 22 local communities in the Kyiv region received modern equipment for volunteer fire brigades under the Multisector Emergency Response Programme, with U.S. support.
Motopumps, fire hoses, radios, lanterns, and other equipment will help volunteers respond more quickly to fires and other emergencies, where every minute counts in saving lives, ensuring community safety, and protecting property.
The development of volunteer fire services contributes to stronger community resilience, improves emergency preparedness, and complements the local response system.
Today, these volunteer fire brigades are becoming important partners of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and a reliable support for communities in protecting lives and health.
The handover was attended by representatives of the Ukrainian Red Cross, the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, local communities in the Kyiv region, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
We thank our partners for their support and joint efforts to strengthen community resilience, develop volunteer fire services, and improve emergency preparedness.
