Law and Humanity: Kyiv Region Police Complete Training in International Humanitarian Law
On 24–25 April, a team from the Ukrainian Red Cross delivered a two-day training on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) for heads and inspectors of the Educational Safety Service from districts across the Kyiv region.
Opening remarks were delivered by Anastasiia Krumplevska, Head of the Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kyiv region, who emphasised the importance of training and partnership-based cooperation in strengthening the professionalism of law enforcement personnel.
The training was facilitated by Anna Tishchenko, an IHL trainer from the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Participants covered:
- the meaning and legal status of the Red Cross emblem;
- practical case studies and legal dilemmas arising in situations of armed conflict;
- action protocols for the protection of civilians and the upholding of human rights;
- coordination with humanitarian organisations.
Particular attention was given to preparing Educational Safety Service inspectors to ensure effective engagement with children and civilian populations.
Today, knowledge of IHL is a practical tool that supports responsible decision-making in times of war.
