In Khmelnytskyi, veterans undergoing rehabilitation visited the Likeria confectionery as part of the Reboot programme
As part of the Ukrainian Red Cross’s “Reboot: Expanding Employment Opportunities” programme, the initiative coordinator, together with representatives of the League of Social Workers of Khmelnytskyi Region, organised an introductory visit for veterans undergoing rehabilitation to the local confectionery Likeria — a potential service provider.
This visit was more than just a tour; it was a warm, hands-on experience that allowed participants to immerse themselves in the world of a new profession. Amid the aroma of freshly baked treats, they learned about the nuances of confectionery work, interacted with the artisans, and tried their hand at new processes. For many, this step was symbolic — an opportunity to return to active life, regain strength and confidence, and, most importantly, explore new possibilities after their experiences.
During the visit, veterans asked questions, shared personal stories, observations, and emotions, and sometimes even joked. In these simple moments — over a cup of tea, surrounded by the scent of pastries and desserts — a key message was clear: life goes on. And it can be warm, inspiring, and even sweet.
The Ukrainian Red Cross team thanks all partners and specialists who make such meetings possible. It is through these small, sincere steps that big changes begin — steps toward a new profession, renewed stability, and a new chapter in life.
