The Ukrainian Red Cross delivers thousands of mine warning signs to help mark hazardous areas in communities
With the support of the Italian Red Cross, we continue to help communities make areas where explosive hazards may be present safer. In particular, we are providing units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) with mine warning signs. Recently, the following items were delivered:
- 4,300 “Danger: Mines” warning signs for SESU units in border communities of the Rivne region;
- 2,700 warning signs for SESU units in the Poltava region.
These signs will be used to mark potentially hazardous areas where mines or other explosive remnants of war may be present. Clear and visible markings are a key safety measure, as they help people recognise danger in time and avoid hazardous areas.
In many communities across Ukraine, the risk of encountering explosive hazards remains high. This is particularly true for areas near the border, forested areas, field roads, and locations that may have been subjected to shelling. For this reason, placing mine warning signs is an important step in protecting people’s lives and health.
The Ukrainian Red Cross, together with its partners, continues to support the services working every day to keep communities safe.
We stand by those in need.
