Ukrainian youth abroad are not just helping — they are becoming a driving force for humanitarian change
In Poland, the Czech Republic, and Germany, young Ukrainians are actively volunteering and participating in humanitarian initiatives, particularly through the national Red Cross societies.
In Germany, they integrate into local branches of the German Red Cross, working in social support, assisting vulnerable groups, organising youth activities, and delivering educational and integration programmes.
The Head of the National Commission on Volunteer Development and Youth of the Ukrainian Red Cross, together with a delegation from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, conducted a working visit to Berlin. During the trip, they met with the Head of the Europe and MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Department, a representative of the Migration Department of the German Red Cross, and local branches in Berlin, where Ukrainian youth are actively volunteering.
The discussions focused on exchanging experiences, mechanisms for youth engagement, and the implementation of joint initiatives. Particular attention was given to youth programmes in Germany — from local projects to training and leadership development.
This visit demonstrates that Ukrainian youth remain an active part of the humanitarian movement, even abroad. Shared values, partnership, and openness provide a strong foundation for the development of volunteering in Ukraine and worldwide.
