In Odesa, the Ukrainian Red Cross holds awareness sessions on communicating with people with disabilities

Schools and lyceums in Odesa and the Odesa community are hosting a series of awareness sessions on communicating with people with disabilities. The initiative is implemented by the Ukrainian Red Cross Physical Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation team, with the support of the Department of Education, Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports.

An information session on communicating with people with disabilities was held at the Odesa Educational and Rehabilitation Centre “Hearing with the Heart” for teachers at the school for children with hearing impairments.

Participants received practical knowledge and guidance on:

  • How to offer assistance appropriately;
  • Ethical norms to follow;
  • Why inclusivity means equality, respect, and a barrier-free society.

The Physical Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation programme in the Odesa region is implemented with the support of the German Red Cross and focuses on creating an inclusive environment and supporting those who need it.
