The Ukrainian Red Cross delivers 50 generators to social care facilities in the Kyiv region

Communities continue to receive critical support during this challenging winter period. Recently, the Ukrainian Red Cross delivered 50 generators of varying capacity to ensure the uninterrupted operation of social care facilities in the Kyiv region throughout the winter months.

The assistance was provided to 10 social service centres, as well as residential care homes for older people and psycho-neurological residential institutions, which are home to 1,964 residents, including 328 internally displaced persons (IDPs). In addition, 27 residential social care units received generators; these facilities provide long-term care to 707 people, including 75 IDPs.

Thanks to the generators, the institutions will be able to continue operating without disruption, ensuring that residents have access to electricity, heating, and essential care even during emergency power outages.

The generators are part of broader international assistance provided by the European Union to the Ukrainian Red Cross. In total, 447 generators have been delivered to Ukraine from the EU’s strategic reserves (#rescEU) under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. They are intended to support communities most affected by attacks on energy infrastructure.

We sincerely thank our partners for their solidarity and continued support for Ukrainian communities.
