UK Foreign Secretary visits a Ukrainian Red Cross heating point in Kyiv
On the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion, Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross, Maksym Dotsenko, met with the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Yvette Cooper, at a Ukrainian Red Cross heating point in Kyiv.
During the meeting, they discussed the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, the most urgent needs of affected people, and the operational challenges the organisation continues to face amid the full-scale war. Particular attention was given to the response to attacks on energy infrastructure, including the work of the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response teams, which support first responders at the scene of emergencies.
The Foreign Secretary expressed her support for Ukraine and thanked the volunteers and staff of the Ukrainian Red Cross for their dedication and for providing life-saving assistance to people during the most difficult times.
The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to support people across the country by providing communities with essential equipment, delivering first aid and psychosocial support to those affected, assisting with debris clearance and early recovery following attacks, conducting awareness-raising activities, and delivering training to strengthen practical skills and community resilience.
We are grateful to the United Kingdom, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and the British Red Cross for their solidarity and continued support for Ukraine. This partnership enables us to further strengthen our operational capacity, respond quickly to the needs of affected people, and remain alongside those who need it most.
