First Two Houses of Modular Housing Site for Internally Displaced Persons Opened in Sumy Region
Тoday, the official opening of a modular town for internally displaced persons (IDPs) took place in Sumy. The site currently includes the first two buildings, comprising 32 fully furnished apartments equipped with household appliances, providing comfortable living conditions for displaced families. The site also features a shelter, which is essential given the frequent shelling of Ukrainian cities, including Sumy.
The opening ceremony was attended by Maksym Dotsenko, Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross, representatives of the Sumy regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross, a delegation from the Swedish Red Cross led by its Secretary General Ulrika Modéer, representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, and local authorities from the Sumy region.
“This is already the fourth project of its kind in the country, implemented by the Ukrainian Red Cross together with its partners. It is vital for us to support people who have lost their homes or been forced to leave them due to the war in Ukraine,” said Maksym Dotsenko, Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
The project was made possible with the financial support of the Swedish Red Cross and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
