31 staff members of the Logistics and Procurement Department of the URCS National Committee successfully completed specialised training in safe forklift operation
Between September and November 2025, 31 staff members of the Logistics and Procurement Department successfully completed specialised training in safe forklift operation. The programme was organised by the Logistics and Procurement Department of the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS), supported by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and delivered by the “Professional Safety” Training and Production Centre in accordance with current Ukrainian legislation on occupational health and safety and the safe operation of lifting equipment.
The training aimed to develop practical skills in safe forklift operation, reduce the risk of workplace injuries and accidents, ensure staff compliance with qualification and safety standards, and improve the efficiency of logistical processes, particularly in warehouse operations and the handling of humanitarian cargo.
During the course, participants studied the legal and regulatory requirements for operating lifting machinery, learned about the structure and functioning of forklifts, mastered safe loading and unloading procedures, and familiarised themselves with action protocols for emergency and non-standard situations. Practical exercises were a key component, with participants practising forklift operation, including transporting humanitarian goods within warehouses and during distribution.
Upon completion of the training, all participants successfully passed a final assessment and received certificates granting the qualification of “forklift operator” under the programme for electric and diesel forklift drivers. This certification confirms their right to carry out professional duties in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
The training represented an important step in strengthening staff professional competence and enhancing workplace safety. It also helped optimise processes for storing, moving, and distributing humanitarian cargo, ensuring its preservation and safe delivery to intended recipients. In turn, this increases the operational efficiency, reliability, and quality of the work of the Logistics and Procurement Department, enabling the Ukrainian Red Cross Society to support people in need even more effectively.
