Physical and Mental Recovery: Social Recovery Programme for Veterans
The Ukrainian Red Cross Social Recovery Programme for veterans and their families has been operating since 2023 and has already reached three regions of Ukraine — Vinnytsia, Kyiv, and Khmelnytskyi.
Between 2023 and 2025, 16 events were held, with 482 participants from 165 veteran families.
The programme combines psychosocial support, physical rehabilitation, and a family-centred approach, helping to improve participants’ emotional well-being, strengthen family relationships, and foster local veteran communities.
Services are provided by a multidisciplinary team from the Ukrainian Red Cross in close collaboration with the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, regional military administrations, and local authorities, with external specialists engaged for advice on legal, social, and medical issues, employment, and other key areas.
This support helps veterans and their families not only during the programme but also after its completion, by building trust, safety, and mutual support within the community.
