The Ukrainian Red Cross and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expand support for communities and children

Maksym Dotsenko, Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross, held a working meeting with Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. The discussion focused on the practical outcomes of ongoing humanitarian initiatives and on further strengthening cooperation amid the full-scale war.

A key area of focus is the initiative to provide rest, recovery, and recreation for Ukrainian children abroad. This programme prioritises children of servicemen who have died or gone missing in action, as well as children from frontline regions. Last year, with the support of the Ukrainian Red Cross, over 700 children were able to benefit from care and recreational activities outside Ukraine. In 2026, the first trips have already taken place, and the programme continues to expand. In the near future, rest opportunities will be organised for children from areas under constant shelling, including Sumy and Chernihiv regions.

The meeting also addressed energy resilience for communities and assistance to the population during the winter months — areas in which the Ukrainian Red Cross already provides systematic, essential support.

Another key focus was on strengthening humanitarian cooperation beyond Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Red Cross will continue to strengthen partnerships to ensure that assistance remains continuous, coordinated, and accessible wherever it is needed most.
