Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross Meets with Delegation of German Parliamentarians
In Kyiv, the Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross, Maksym Dotsenko, met with representatives of the German-Ukrainian Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Bundestag, including Robin Wagener, the Chairman of the German-Ukrainian Parliamentary Friendship Group and a Member of the German Bundestag.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the activities of the Ukrainian Red Cross amid the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, including its role in supporting state authorities and its collaboration with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. They also considered the organisation’s role within the Unified State Civil Protection System and the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
The discussion focused on the areas, sectors, and practical activities through which the German Red Cross supports the Ukrainian Red Cross, enabling a stronger humanitarian response and enhancing the organisation’s capacity to assist people and communities affected by the war. Particular attention was given to the situation in the country following recent attacks on energy infrastructure and their effects on the population.
The Ukrainian Red Cross also emphasised that international support enables timely and effective humanitarian responses across various sectors, helps achieve sustainable outcomes for individuals and communities affected by the war, ensures the continuity of assistance during a prolonged humanitarian crisis, and allows aid to be adapted to evolving needs on the ground.
The Ukrainian Red Cross expressed sincere gratitude to Germany and the German Red Cross for their continued support for Ukraine and its people. The parties also discussed future areas of cooperation aimed at addressing the long-term humanitarian impacts of the war.
