Cherkasy: The Ukrainian Red Cross team is providing assistance at the site of the response to the aftermath of the strike
Volunteers and staff of the Cherkasy regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross, together with the Cherkasy Regional State Administration, the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Cherkasy region, the National Police and the Cherkasy City Council, are providing assistance to people affected by another attack on the city.
The Ukrainian Red Cross is supplying construction materials, including OSB boards, timber, plastic sheeting and tarpaulins. Emergency response team volunteers are helping local residents to cover shattered windows and damaged roofs on site, so that the cold does not destroy what has survived the explosions.
Ukrainian Red Cross aid points have been set up, where people can warm up, receive hot tea and access essential support, including psychosocial support. Psychologists are working on site to help people cope with the stress they have experienced.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Cherkasy was subjected to a large-scale attack by Russian UAVs. Residential buildings, cars, a private enterprise building and garages caught fire at several locations, and a petrol station was damaged. Four people were injured.
