“I will definitely bake a big cake to celebrate the end of the course” – Yuliia Shterman on taking part in the pastry course through the Reboot programme
Yuliia Shterman is just 20 years old, but she has already faced many challenges. She moved from the Kharkiv region to Poltava and is currently studying at university. During this period of change and the search for new opportunities, she joined the Ukrainian Red Cross’s Reboot programme, which helps people gain new skills and complete vocational courses, and chose to study pastry.
After completing the course, Yuliia celebrated her achievement by baking a large cake, which her classmates really appreciated. Living in a dormitory, she doesn’t have the chance to bake regularly. Nevertheless, she is determined — Yuliia has promised that at the end of the academic year, she will bake a special cake to mark the completion of the course with her group.
Her plans for the near future include finishing her studies, finding a job, renting an apartment with an oven, and finally pursuing her passion for pastry, baking to order and doing what she loves.
Yuliia’s story shows that even in difficult circumstances, it is possible to find something that inspires you, gives you the strength to move forward, and helps you build your dreams. For her, the Reboot programme provided the push she needed to believe that a fresh start is always possible.
