The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to implement its School Safety Sessions project
With the start of the new year, specialists and volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross continue to deliver School Safety Sessions for schoolchildren, helping them develop a culture of safe behaviour and the confidence to act appropriately in different life situations.
Last week, for example, sessions were held in Safety Classrooms in Vinnytsia, where children discussed the topic “What to do if a stranger approaches you.” During the sessions, children learned how to recognise potentially dangerous situations, respond appropriately to contact attempts by strangers, and understand whom they can turn to for help. Through examples, discussions, and practical exercises, pupils learned to make safe decisions and take care of their own safety.
These sessions are an important part of building skills that help children feel more confident and protected in their everyday lives.
The School Safety Sessions project is being implemented in the Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, and Kirovohrad regions by the team of the Risk Reduction Unit of the Disaster Management Department of the Ukrainian Red Cross, in partnership with the British Red Cross.
