Kharkiv: The Ukrainian Red Cross is providing assistance to those affected at the site of the strike
Together with other emergency services in the city, volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Kharkiv region conducted door-to-door checks of damaged buildings and surrounding areas to identify those affected. They also provided first aid and psychological first aid.
A Ukrainian Red Cross aid point is currently operating at the site, where local residents can have hot drinks and, if needed, receive psychological support or other assistance. A needs assessment is being carried out among those affected to enable the subsequent distribution of humanitarian aid.
According to preliminary information from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), as a result of the Russian strike on Kharkiv, a commercial and office building was destroyed, along with part of the adjacent entrance of a four-storey apartment block. Other apartment buildings and vehicles were damaged, and windows were blown out in one of the educational institution buildings. Thirty-one people were injured, including one infant.
Emergency rescue operations are ongoing at the site.
