For four days, the Ukrainian Red Cross supported the residents of Vyshhorod amid disruptions to electricity, water and heating supplies
Volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Kyiv region worked in close coordination with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) and other municipal emergency services, responding to the needs of the population and delivering assistance where it was most needed.
Four Ukrainian Red Cross aid stations were operating across the city, where people could charge their mobile phones, take a rest, have hot drinks, or collect hot water in thermoses. During this period, more than 2,500 people received assistance at Ukrainian Red Cross aid stations.
Throughout the entire response, volunteers were on duty to provide first aid. They regularly measured blood pressure; one person received first aid and was subsequently hospitalised. Two additional transport operations helped people with limited mobility return home safely. Volunteers also supported SES facilities by providing rest areas for personnel and first aid backpacks for emergency situations.
The response involved volunteers from the emergency response teams in the Kyiv region, the Bila Tserkva team, as well as the emergency response team of the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Ukrainian Red Cross aid stations in the city will continue to operate for as long as they are needed and until the electricity supply is fully restored for the local population.
