Twelve Active Longevity Clubs of the Ukrainian Red Cross operate in the Mykolaiv region

The clubs bring together people aged 65 and over who wish to remain active members of their communities. Participants take part in a wide range of activities, including creative sessions — not only as participants, but also as organisers. Recently, ahead of the winter holidays, an event was held in the town of Yuzhnoukrainsk in the Mykolaiv region. Participants painted, shared positive emotions, exchanged life stories, and spent time socialising with one another.

Loneliness is a challenge faced by thousands of older people in Ukraine. Due to relatives relocating to other regions or abroad, as well as other circumstances, many older people are left to care for themselves. In response, the Ukrainian Red Cross team encourages older people to lead active lives, while ensuring respect, dignity, and safety for everyone. Active ageing supports the physical, mental, and social well-being of older people who wish to continue living active and engaged lives.
