The third cycle of the social recovery programme for veterans and their families, organised by the Ukrainian Red Cross, has taken place
From 29 November to 6 December, 11 veteran families from communities across the Khmelnytskyi region had a week of rest and recovery at the “Bereh Nadii” recreation centre. The programme is designed to support both the veterans and their families, creating a space where everyone can feel supported and find their own pathway to recovery.
A multidisciplinary team from the Ukrainian Red Cross worked with participants, together with veteran support specialists from local communities. Specialised professionals also contributed to the programme, including a legal adviser, a representative of the employment service, and livelihoods and career guidance specialists.
The week-long programme included psychoeducation sessions, individual and group consultations, physical and wellbeing practices, and creative activities. A separate programme was organised for children, focused on understanding emotions, strengthening family interactions, and developing inner resilience.
The programme was delivered with the support of the Japanese Red Cross and in partnership with the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, the Khmelnytskyi Regional Administration, the Regional Social Services Centre and the City Council.
Groups are formed from neighbouring communities so that, after the programme ends, families can stay connected and continue applying their new skills in daily life.
We are committed to supporting veterans and their families as they recover and build greater resilience — at their own pace and within a safe, supportive environment.
