The Ukrainian Red Cross is responding on the ground following the latest massive attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region
In Kyiv, the emergency response team from the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross provided assistance at four locations. Volunteers delivered first aid to seven injured people, while another seven received psychological first aid. One person was evacuated from a damaged residential building using a fire ladder in a joint operation with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the Kyiv Rescue Service. Our volunteers also supported the evacuation of a resident from a damaged block of flats in the Darnytskyi district.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, as of 09:00, two people have been killed and another sixteen injured, including a child. Residential buildings in seven districts of the city were damaged as a result of the Russian multiple-weapon attack. Emergency response and rescue operations are ongoing.
In Vyshhorod, the emergency response team of the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Kyiv region assisted residents of a building damaged by the strike. Together with first responders from the State Emergency Service, volunteers helped evacuate 47 people. An on-site coordination centre is operating to collect information on the needs of the affected population. A Ukrainian Red Cross support point has been established, where residents of the damaged buildings are receiving plastic sheeting and tarpaulins to temporarily repair their homes.
The National Police of the Kyiv region reported that two apartment blocks in Vyshhorod were damaged in the Russian attack, and one woman was hospitalised.
Overall, the large-scale attack on the Kyiv region resulted in damage to 13 apartment buildings and nine private homes, as well as 20 garages and 24 vehicles. One woman was killed and eight other civilians were injured.
