Supporting the Pets of IDPs: Caring for Every Member of the Family
“I came to Kyiv from Nikopol. I was working at a local enterprise there. Our family had an apartment and a summer house. Everything was fine. But after the first loud shelling, we decided to move to Kyiv. We started looking for housing, but finding a place that would accept pets proved very difficult,” says Yevhenia.
We provided food for her dog and cat. Yevhenia says the support was extremely timely, as her family was in a difficult situation — rent and adjusting to life in a new city involved significant costs.
The Ukrainian Red Cross, in collaboration with Humane World for Animals, continues to support internally displaced families who have pets.
