Over 9,700 families in frontline regions have received support from the Ukrainian Red Cross
The Ukrainian Red Cross has provided UAH 187.5 million in cash assistance to help families in frontline areas purchase solid fuel for the winter period.
Support reached households in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Sumy and Chernihiv regions belonging to socially vulnerable groups — including older people, people living alone, persons with disabilities, large families, single-parent households, and foster or guardian families — in line with Resolution No. 985 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
In the Cherkasy and Poltava regions, assistance was also provided to internally displaced families in need of support during the heating season.
Each household received a one-time cash grant of UAH 19,400.
“Preparing for the winter period is critically important for families living near areas of active hostilities. Our goal is to help people meet their basic needs, including ensuring they can heat their homes,” said Olena Skrypnikova, Head of the Innovative Financing and Cash Transfer Programming Unit at the Ukrainian Red Cross.
The initiative is implemented in collaboration with the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Social Policy, regional military administrations, the Pension Fund of Ukraine, and partners from the Shelter Cluster.
The programme is supported by the Austrian Red Cross, Canadian Red Cross, British Red Cross, Danish Red Cross, Norwegian Red Cross, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to provide cash and humanitarian assistance to people affected by the war.
