Training sessions on International Humanitarian Law were held for university staff, students, teachers, and pupils in the Ivano-Frankivsk region

Recently, the Ukrainian Red Cross conducted a series of training sessions on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) for the academic staff of the Educational and Scientific Law Institute of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. Similar sessions were also held for teachers of history, civic education, and law from schools across the region, as well as for students and pupils.

The training covered the key principles of IHL and traced its development from the mid-19th century to the present day, including the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols. Particular attention was given to the principles of distinction between combatants and civilians, proportionality, and limitations on the use of force. Participants also discussed the mechanisms for protecting civilians during armed conflict, and the roles of state and international organisations in ensuring humanitarian assistance.

An important part of the programme was a presentation about the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and its emblems. The training sessions were organised and delivered with the participation of Ukrainian Red Cross volunteer trainers Khrystyna Duda and Maksym Kovaliuk.
