Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers met an evacuation train in Kyiv

Today, volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response teams, representing both the National Committee and the Kyiv region, met an evacuation train bringing 16 elderly people to the capital, including four with limited mobility.

The passengers were evacuated from various communities in the frontline areas of eastern Ukraine and transported to Kyiv by Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways).

Our volunteers helped them disembark safely and accompanied them to a residential care facility, where they will receive the support and attention they require.

Despite their exhaustion and the hardships they have endured, these people are now safe.

We stand by those in need.
