Fifth Ukrainian Red Cross Active Longevity Club Opens in Ternopil Region
A new Active Longevity Club called “Young at Heart” has opened in the town of Pidvolochysk, becoming the fifth such space established by the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Ternopil region. The club was launched with the support of the BraVo programme – an initiative aimed at strengthening organisations and volunteering – and is hosted at the Pidvolochysk Vocational School.
The club is open to people aged 60 and over, offering them opportunities to acquire new knowledge and skills, take part in social activities, build friendships, and care for their emotional well-being.
“It’s a wonderful idea to bring different generations together in one space – people who are ready to support one another and share positive energy,” said Nadiia Nahirna, acting director of the vocational school.
Participants were welcomed by Oleksandra Bryhadyr, head of the Ternopil regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross, who spoke about the network of existing clubs and the importance of mutual support in these challenging times. The Mayor of Pidvolochysk, Vitalii Datsko, also attended the event and expressed the local authorities’ readiness to support this valuable community initiative. To mark the opening, students of the vocational school organised a celebratory performance for the guests.
“Young at Heart” is a space for connection, care and encouragement – and a way for older people to remain active, valued members of their community.
