Ukrainian Red Cross Strengthens Community Safety in Khmelnytskyi Region

In support of Ukraine’s national policy to strengthen community resilience and emergency response capacity, the Ukrainian Red Cross continues to develop the first line of response — volunteer fire brigades working in coordination with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. Khmelnytskyi region has become the first to participate in the Ukrainian Red Cross’s nationwide project aimed at enhancing the safety of territorial communities.

Yesterday, 63 communities across the Khmelnytskyi region received material and technical support kits for local and volunteer fire brigades. These included motor pumps, hoses, flashlights, two-way radios, and other essential equipment that will boost response capacity during emergencies. This support will enable volunteer teams to respond more quickly to outbreaks of fire, coordinate effectively across units, and operate even in the most challenging conditions.

In addition, 45 educational and social institutions received fire safety points equipped with basic firefighting tools. These are being installed across the region, including in protective shelters, providing an extra layer of safety.

Initiatives like this demonstrate that building a volunteer firefighting movement is not only about equipment — it is, above all, about trust, solidarity, and the willingness of people to support each other in difficult times.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ukrainian and Danish Red Cross, the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Khmelnytskyi region, and local community leaders.

We are sincerely grateful to the Danish Red Cross and all our partners for their ongoing collaboration and support.

Together, we are stronger!ильніші!
