The annual meeting of the Ukrainian Red Cross Home-Based Care teams took place in Lviv

This year’s event focused on “The Current State and Prospects for the Development of Long-Term Care.” During the meeting, regional coordinators, assistants, finance officers, department heads, and staff from various related sectors of the organisation discussed:

  • the current situation and outcomes of six months of activity in the field of long-term care;
  • the work of Active Longevity Clubs;
  • assessment of beneficiaries’ wellbeing and feedback from those receiving care;
  • the involvement of volunteers in programme activities;
  • collaboration with the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention programme;
  • coordination and division of responsibilities with local branches of the Ukrainian Red Cross.

The meeting also featured sessions on the ongoing transition of the Home-Based Care programme to nationally recognised standards. Additional sessions included budget planning for finance coordinators and strategies for communication at both local and national levels.

Participants also took part in a psychosocial support activity focused on self-care and team well-being. Group discussions and workshops played an important role, enabling participants from different regions to share practical experience and expertise, strengthening the programme’s effectiveness and improving support for those in need.

It is worth noting that the programme is expanding and will now operate under the name “Long-Term Care”, which encompasses both the Home-Based Care services and the Active Longevity Clubs.
