Ukrainian Red Cross Launches School Safety Sessions for Children
With the start of the new school year, the Ukrainian Red Cross has launched “School Safety Sessions” — a new initiative designed to foster a culture of safety among children and young people. The project aims to raise awareness of everyday risks and promote responsible behaviour around personal and community safety within school environments.
Our specialists have already delivered the first interactive sessions in schools, where pupils learned:
- how to respond safely during an air raid alert;
- what to do in the event of a fire;
- how to stay safe near water;
- why knowing what to do in an emergency matters.
We believe it’s vital to help children build safety awareness from an early age. The sooner they learn these essential skills, the more confident and better prepared they’ll be in any situation.
The project is being implemented in the Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, and Kirovohrad regions by the Disaster Risk Reduction Unit of the Ukrainian Red Cross, in partnership with the British Red Cross.
