As part of the WASH programme supported by the Austrian Red Cross, the Zaporizhzhia regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross has donated modern laboratory equipment to the Department of Water Resources of the Priazov Rivers (Azov Sea Basin). The equipment provided includes:

  • LT200 laboratory thermostat
  • Fluorat-02-5M water quality analyser

The total cost of the equipment is UAH 1,091,100.

The Fluorat-02-5M enables rapid analysis of drinking water, natural water sources, and wastewater. It can detect petroleum products, phenols, and anionic surfactants, and is capable of measuring more than 30 water quality indicators — including turbidity, metal ions (such as zinc, aluminium, and iron), as well as elements like arsenic, boron, selenium, and beryllium.

Oksana Beketova, head of the Zaporizhzhia regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross, stated:

“Access to clean water is one of the key factors in public health and safety. That is why we support institutions that monitor water quality. The equipment provided will help respond more rapidly to environmental challenges and ensure proper control over the state of the environment.”

It is worth noting that in 2024, the Ukrainian Red Cross and the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, which includes support for sustainable water resource management, strengthening the technical capacity of water management authorities, and assisting communities facing challenges related to drinking water access.
