Advocacy Visit to Argentina with the Support of the Ukrainian Red Cross and Presentation of the Voluntary Report on IHL by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine
With the support of the Ukrainian Red Cross, an advocacy visit to Argentina was carried out by representatives of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. During the visit, Ukrainian military legal experts held more than 10 meetings with senior government officials. The visit also featured a presentation of the Voluntary Report on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) prepared by Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence. These events took place at the National Defence University (UNDEF) and the Officers and Sergeants School of the National Naval Prefecture.
The Voluntary Report on IHL was prepared with the support of the Ukrainian Red Cross and was first presented in October 2024 at the 34th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent. Its publication aims to demonstrate to the international community that, despite the ongoing war, Ukraine remains committed to the principles and values of international law. With the support of the Ukrainian Red Cross, the report was translated into several languages and is being actively shared globally.
As a result of the visit, specific agreements were reached to strengthen cooperation in the field of military law — in particular, international law — and to hold future joint activities and develop institutional collaboration between the legal departments of defence institutions.
The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to promote knowledge of international humanitarian law and actively supports initiatives aimed at enhancing the protection of victims of war.
