The Multisectoral Emergency Response Programme is ongoing in the Zaporizhzhia region

The programme aims to support people living in remote communities. It is being implemented with the support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA).

Recently, the programme’s counselling psychologists led a psychoeducational session on mental health awareness in the village of Novosolene.

During the meeting, participants:

  • learned effective ways to overcome emotional burnout
  • practised simple breathing and grounding techniques
  • gained practical experience in restoring their own resilience

“They always put in a lot of effort and bring something new. We call them family in our team because they have become a part of us. They are very friendly and engaging. Olena and Iryna (the counselling psychologists) help us cope with what’s happening now. Our meetings take place every two weeks in Novosolene. People from neighbouring villages also come to join the events,” shared local resident Nataliia.

Rebuilding warm and trusting relationships is a vital part of psychologists’ work. Such an atmosphere helps people open up and restore their inner balance.
