Nearly 250 children of our defenders had the chance to rest and recover, thanks to the support of the Ukrainian Red Cross

In the first half of 2025, the Ukrainian Red Cross received five requests from the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War to support families whose loved ones had been killed, gone missing, taken prisoner, or injured.

With financial support from the Danish Red Cross, the Ukrainian Red Cross organised seven trips to recovery camps and resorts in Ukraine and abroad. These gave children and their families the chance to rest and recharge in a range of countries, including Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Germany, and Uzbekistan.

A total of 245 participants and 35 accompanying persons were able to travel to places where they could enjoy new experiences, take part in different activities, and feel safe and supported. We provided help at every stage — from preparing documents and arranging travel to offering support during the trips — to ensure their journey was as comfortable and safe as possible.

According to the families, these camps became places where children could finally breathe freely — a chance to change their surroundings, escape constant worry, play, laugh, and fill their days with joy.

We remain committed to giving children and their families moments where joy can replace fear in their eyes.
