Over 1,000 residents in the Poltava region have already received medical assistance through telemedicine from the Ukrainian Red Cross’s mobile health units
The Ukrainian Red Cross’s mobile health units continue to operate across the Poltava region, providing vital healthcare services to people in remote communities where access to medical facilities is limited or non-existent.
The units’ specialists carry out basic medical examinations, offer consultations, measure blood glucose levels, perform ECGs when required, and distribute over-the-counter medicines for general therapeutic use.
A key focus in the region is telemedicine, with Poltava currently being the only region where this service is integrated into the mobile health units’ work. Telemedicine enables residents to consult healthcare specialists remotely, so they don’t have to travel to the hospital.
During each visit, mobile unit staff assess whether a patient requires a telemedicine consultation. If so, the patient is referred to the Poltava Regional Clinical Cardiovascular Centre, where a doctor conducts an initial review and forwards the information to relevant specialists for further treatment.
The mobile health units’ work in the Poltava region is supported by the Canadian Red Cross.
