The Ukrainian Red Cross organised several family camp sessions in the Ternopil region
Three family camp sessions organised by the Ternopil regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross have concluded at the Medobory Sanatorium. This marked the region’s first experience with this type of initiative.
The camp brought together 120 participants, including families who have taken in children and internally displaced families from Kherson, Kharkiv, and other frontline communities who have found refuge in the region.
“We wanted everyone to take away only the best memories,” said Oleksii Sheika, regional first aid coordinator at the Ternopil branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Each day featured a varied programme for both adults and children, including:
- first aid training sessions
- classes on healthy eating and lifestyle habits
- activities for emotional well-being
- workshops on outdoor and tourism skills
The children opened up, were happy, and made new friends. They discovered swimming, hiking, team games, and football. Most importantly, their eyes shone with happiness.
To ensure comfort and care, the organisers took care of every detail:
- two- and three-bed accommodation
- five nutritious meals a day
- wellness treatments and physical activities
- a rich programme of training and leisure activities
The camp became a space for recovery, mutual support, and warmth — exactly what families forced to leave their homes due to the war need.
The project was implemented with the support of the Norwegian Red Cross and in cooperation with the State Service for Children.
