The Ukrainian Red Cross took part in large-scale exercises in the Ternopil region

From 8 to 10 July, large-scale command and staff exercises involving civil protection forces were held in the Ternopil region. The aim was to practise the coordination of all services in crisis situations modelled as closely as possible on real conditions.

Volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Ternopil region took part alongside first responders from the State Emergency Service, police, and emergency medical services.

During the exercise, the volunteers:

  • deployed an emergency life support station;
  • set up first aid and psychological support stations;
  • participated in a simulated response to the aftermath of a strike on a residential building, providing first aid to the victims;
  • supplied water to first responders working in high-risk conditions.

All scenarios were carried out in the context of wartime realities: wearing bulletproof vests, under sudden threats, and with limited resources.

Coordination between services is vital for effective assistance, as every minute counts during an emergency.
