5,000 people in Ukraine have been trained in Psychological First Aid thanks to the #EU4Health project

More than 5,000 people in Ukraine have been trained in Psychological First Aid (PFA) through the #EU4Health initiative — a joint project of the Ukrainian Red Cross, the European Union, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

Among those trained were educators, healthcare professionals, social workers, and other specialists who work with people affected by crisis on a daily basis, as well as staff and volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross. Particular attention was given to the needs of children: nearly 400 teachers and 800 healthcare workers received training in PFA tailored to children’s needs.

In addition to the training activities, the project has helped strengthen psychosocial support services. Hotlines were launched and upgraded in Lviv, Kharkiv, and Mykolaiv, providing support to nearly 9,000 people so far. Since March 2025, four additional hotlines have been operating in pilot mode in other regions of Ukraine.

Furthermore, around 2,500 staff members and volunteers received psychosocial support, either individually or in group sessions. This is vitally important — you can only support others effectively if you also take care of your own well-being.

The achievements of the #EU4Health project reflect systematic teamwork, community trust, and strong international support. The Ukrainian Red Cross remains committed to ensuring that help reaches everyone who needs it — at the right time and without exception.

This project was carried out with the support of the European Union under the #EU4Health initiative, in partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the Ukrainian Red Cross, and other National Societies.
