Martin Åberg, Ambassador of Sweden to Ukraine, visited the Sumy region

Martin Åberg, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Ukraine, paid a working visit to the Sumy region. Particular attention was given to supporting the activities of the Sumy regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross, as the Swedish Red Cross is a trusted partner in the implementation of humanitarian programmes in the region.

During meetings with representatives of local authorities and humanitarian organisations, the delegation discussed the region’s priority needs, with a view to attracting further international assistance. Discussions focused on expanding international cooperation, strengthening interregional ties, particularly between the cities of Konotop and Linköping, and supporting internally displaced persons.

A key part of the programme was a visit to the construction site of a modular town in Sumy, made possible with financial support from the Swedish Red Cross and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). The delegation also learned about the Ukrainian Red Cross’s work under the Home-Based Care programme and its activities in the field of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support.

We sincerely thank our Swedish partners for their continued support and joint efforts to strengthen community resilience.
