Another turbulent night for residents of Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The Ukrainian Red Cross is providing assistance at the sites of last night’s attacks in Bila Tserkva and Kyiv
The Bila Tserkva unit of the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Kyiv region responded at the scene in Bila Tserkva. Volunteers provided first aid and psychological first aid to those affected, as well as offering tea and water to local residents and emergency workers.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the Russian attack caused a fire in a two-storey hotel building that housed a private hospital, from which six seriously ill patients were evacuated.
The emergency response team from the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross is operating at the site of the strike on a residential building in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district. Since early morning, volunteers have been taking part in the rescue operation, providing first aid and psychological first aid to victims. A Ukrainian Red Cross aid station has been set up at the site, where residents of the damaged buildings and emergency workers can charge their devices, have tea, water, and snacks.
Volunteers from the Shevchenkivskyi and Solomianskyi district branches of the Ukrainian Red Cross in Kyiv are also providing support at the emergency site. In particular, they have distributed over 200 square metres of plastic sheeting to temporarily cover windows in homes damaged by the attack.
With the support of our partners, the volunteers are also supplying pet food and carriers to residents with pets from the affected buildings. Among their efforts, they also rescued a bird and handed it over to volunteers from the Kyiv Animal Rescue Group.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, nine people have been killed and 34 injured as a result of the Russian attack on Kyiv.
Emergency and rescue operations are ongoing. The Ukrainian Red Cross continues its work at the site to address the aftermath of the attack.
